He died young, but there is of course a boxed CD set and a single piece of film on Youtube for those who like jazz with music as well as words.

This anonymous poem was first published as the lyric to one of Thomas Ford's simple arrangements for the solo voice. As a song and a poem it kept some currency: the poem was included in the 'Oxford Book of English Verse' published to general acclaim in 1900 and the song retained its popularity as a parlour piece. During the years before the First World War, Georgian poet Ralph Hodgson and his young friend Claud Lovat Fraser began writing and illustrating broadsheets and chapbooks for their popular 'Flying fame' series. After the war Flying Fame's concept of inexpensive chapbooks and broadsheets was appropriated by Harold Monro's Poetry Bookshop - which included 'There is a Lady' in its Second Series of Poetry Bookshop Broadsheets with Lovat Fraser's illustrations.

The edition is of 160 unnumbered copies. New. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, before so many forms of concrete became quite so common, brick built houses for industrial workers tended to have steps and sills made from local stone. They were kept clean and white (or at least a lighter grey!) by scrubbing them with a 'Donkey Stone'. Made from ground sandstone and bleach with a little cement powder to hold it all together, each stone was about the size of a bar of soap. Feathergill's was one of the most popular of these stones and its trade mark Donkey gave these bars their name. Claire s poem captures the rhythm as well as the drudgery of this housewife's routine job.

His most significant work was the 1947 novel Every Man Dies Alone, written by Fallada in a feverish heat in only twenty-four days, dying just weeks before its publication. This Anti-fascist novel was based on a true story of a couple whose grief for their murdered son led them to launch a clandestine resistance campaign in Nazi Germany. In her new introduction for this translation, Jenny Wilson says that Fallada turned to writing for children in the 1930s when his novels came under scrutiny by Nazi authorities. Among his works for children was this charming and poignant story of young Tom and his beloved stuffed dog, Hoppelpoppel. This 21st New Year Book from the Press is printed in Sabon and Centaur types on Zerkall Paper. Frontispiece illustration by Jennie Malbon. This poem was written in 1859 by William Barnes, who was a multitalented poet and autodidact who is particularly well known for this work, which is written in his version of a Dorset dialect. Bound in light gray paper covers with the title in black on front cover. Printed on Battersea paper with the titling typeface of Bembo. The poem is set in Garamond with the translation using Fairbank italic. The title page has a beautiful image of an apple blossom, printed from an original engraving by Helen Moss. In fine condition. Graham Moss, the proprietor, printer, and binder at Incline Press writes: "Reclaiming the tradition of chapbooks. I try to avoid publishing my own writing as much as possible; introduction matter and occasional editorial work aside, a simple colophon usually fills my desire for writing: quiet, precise, and broadly anonymous. But versions and variations of this poem have been shunted around in my head these past two or more years, only taking this shape during the wintery months at the beginning of 2023. In lieu of anywhere else to publish it, Incline Press fills the gap! Printed on an off-cut of handmade paper it can be cheap enough to be properly called a chapbook, even though it will not see the inside of a chapman's pack. Rather than avoiding that term, which is getting a bit pretentious of late for my taste, let us at least reclaim the chapbook for the lowest sort of price that letterpress printing can accomplish, even though this is some of the best paper that can be got for ready money!" Printed on Wookey Hole Paper, probably intended as ledger paper from the 1930s. Uncial type used for the titling is Solemnis, designed in 1954 from the Berthold type foundry.
