In den WarenkorbFirst edition. Inscribed by Elizabeth David. With an autograph letter signed. Publisher's original stapled white card covers, printed in brown and black. Illustrated with line drawings throughout by Heather Standring. 16 pp. A very good copy, the binding firm with some toning to the cover edges. The rear cover annotated by Elizabeth David in blue ink with the publication date "September 1963". The contents, with Elizabeth David's handwritten emendation in blue ink on the last page of text, the occasional finger mark to the margins and a bit of toning at the edges are otherwise clean. Scarce in presentation state. Inscribed on the inside front cover "To Joanna / with love / Elizabeth / November 12th 1963". Loosely laid in is a pertinent single page letter to the same recipientfrom Elizabeth David on her Halsey Street letterhead reading in part "Dear Joanna / I'm afraid this will be useless as a coffee table, footstool or meat-press - and oh dear, if you only knew how I battled with Heather Standring to get the cover drawing right - But I gave up in the end. I think she has done the pots very well.". Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.
