Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good. 1st Edition. TOBY TYLER OR TEN WEEKS WITH A CIRCUS BY JAMES OTIS EVERETT SHINN ART 1937 DJ. When you see the paste down plate on the front cover of this book you will be amazed at how clean and vibrant it is. Please find: Toby Tyler or Ten Weeks with A Circus by James Otis. This small hard cover book (6 ½ x 8 ½ inches 212 pages plus one page of publisher s adverts) was published by the John C. Winston Company of Philadelphia dated 1937 (no mention of edition). This book was illustrated by Everett Shinn and includes the gorgeous plate paste-down on the front cover-the endpapers- the frontispiece the title page and several other full-page plates some in color and other in b&w. There are also any number of in-text decorations at the beginning of chapters and elsewhere. The book is bound in dark blue boards with the colorful paste-down plate on the cover and gilt titles on the spine; it is protected by a colorful pictorial dust jacket. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket, however, shows a bit of wear and tear including some edge wear and bumping and a fairly substantial chip out of the rear cover. It also has a bruised tear at the top of the front cover. The hard covers are clean and bright in particular the front cover with the very vibrant color paste-down. Inside the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are clean and bright throughout. However, there is some minor foxing apparently associated with the glossy paper stock used for the color plates which affects the adjacent page as well but nothing extreme. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
8vo., cloth backed pictorial boards; illustrated by Everett Shinn; Christmas passages from Dickens' works; lightly edgeworn boards else very good in a edgeworn and torn dust jacket.
