First edition.Inscribed by the author on the front endpaper and signed 'Cameron".This is a fictionalized account, based on historical research, of the life of Cyrano de Bergerac, hero of Rostand's famous play.

Covers are quite faded with general soiling, including some water splotching. No other indicators of water damage throughout. Paper over spine has chipped, and there is a one inch portion missing from foot of spine. Inside contents remain in good, clean condition. Includes colored woodcuts throughout. Though front gutter is cracked, binding remains secure.

[nice clean book with no significant wear, tiny dent in top edge of rear cover, vintage price sticker (from The White House, San Francisco department store) on rear pastedown; jacket has a small light brown stain near top of front panel, light soiling to rear panel, a couple of tiny nicks in top edge of rear panel]. "From England to Cairo with one excursion into Victorian England, [the author] ranges in these ten little cosmopolitan novels." One story deals with a "restless post-war Englishwoman who attempted a trans-Atlantic flight." The author, who eventually became Sir Philip Gibbs, distinguished himself as a war correspondent during World War I and went on to a long career in journalism. NOISBN.
