In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. 1st Edition. The uncommon first UK edition, issued two years after the original American edition which did not include this Fleming introduction. Tall 8vo. 143pp. Cloth-backed patterned paper boards lettered in cream at the spine and with the publisher's vibrant blue top edge stain. A trace of light partial toning to the free endpapers, alongside a tiny hint of spotting, with a trace of further spotting to the half-title and to one unprinted concluding leaf. A virtually fine copy in non-price-clipped dust wrapper, with a little nicking and creasing to the head of the spine panel, the two upper corner tips and the upper edge, and some lightly chafing to several natural folds. An important book on poker, penned by the noted US cryptologist and combining poker stories with details of the maths behind various poker strategies. This English edition is considerably enhanced by the Fleming introduction ("a hatful of some of the finest gambling stories I had ever read. It didn't matter that the game was poker. There were wonderful, thrilling stories about cards. The book would certainly become a gambling classic. English card players would read it and love it. The book had zest, blood, sex, and a tough, wry humour reminiscent of Raymond Chandler").
