The book is scientific but avoids technicality that is beyond the scope of the non-scientific reader. The book is divided into 2 parts: The description of types and orders and structure and life of plants. The first part is subdivided into dicotyledons and monocotyledons, The second part is subdivided into 2 divisions i) the minute structure and vital processes of plants, and ii) the structure and vital processes of the parts of plants. The second subdivision discusses the various parts of a plant separately namely leaf, root, stem, flower and the fruit and the seed. The book ends with two appendices that note the nomenclature and classification, and the distribution of the plants. This book is a reprint of the 1908 edition. About the Author :-Immanuel Pfleiderer was born in 1872 and died in 1949. He was a reputed author, translator and compiler. He has 26 works in 50 publications in 4 languages (English, German, Latin, Kannad) and 124 library holdings to his credit. His genres of works are biographies, science, botany and field guides.
