Apparently he could only decide to do so after the death of Conrad Gessner (1565). Ornamented capital letters. Bound in contemporary German blind-stamped pigskin, heavily decorated in blind , back with four great raised bands, boards decorated with two different plates of 75 x 50 mm., framed with fillets and renacentist arabesques. upper board: central figure representing Justice with a woman richly dressed with a sworn and a balance, with the legend Iusticia quisquis pictura luminae cernis. Lower board: Lucrecia's figure with a fur coat, driving in a dagger in her heart, and the legend Castatulit Magma Forma Lucretia Laudem. Both figures rounded with frames, arabesques, stamps of David and Jesus, inscriptions: Data est Mi Hommo Ecce Agnus Dei qui Tol and De Fructus Ventri Tui. With flower ornaments. Vellum and 19 last pages with slight water stains. Very good copy. Hoefer, XXIV, 772. Adams H-621. - Durling 4805. - Hirsch-H.
