Publisher's green cloth backed boards, elaborate blind stamped floral design on the covers. Title in gilt stamped directly onto the spine. Yellow endpapers. The author wrote this book ' . by a desire of contributing towards a charitable object. When I heard of the benevolent design to open in this city " a Refuge for the Destitute, " I was anxious - so far as circumstances might enable me - to give it my assistance ; and the thought occurred that a small publication, such as that which I now send forth, would - probably - offer the readiest means of effecting what I contemplated ' - from the Dedication. The Rev. W[illiam] P[epperell] was the Rector of St. Bridget's, Chester, from 1840 until his death in 1855.
