Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Booth Tarkington was one of a very few writers to receive the Pulitzer Prize for fiction on multiple occasions. Please find one of his stories, titled: "The Two Vanrevels". This book is bound in light green cloth with creme colored and gilt decorations in an art deco motif on the cover and spine. This copy has the "R" after the date on the copyright page and the mistaken "the" for "she" on the last line of page 127. It includes a tissue-guarded Frontispiece and 6 other plates, all present and accounted for. The top edge of the pages are gilt. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There has been some bumping to the hard covers especially the lower spine tip and lower corners. The gilt titles on the spine are slightly tarnished but still fully legible. Inside, there is a lightly penciled name of a former owner on the half-title page but that is the only mark I found in the book. The interior pages and plates are clean and bright, without toning or foxing. I did find one page (14-15) where a flower was stashed and dried, staining the pages. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound although perhaps a bit cocked right. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. Henry Hutt (illustrator).…

Title block stamped in gilt foil on front cover and spine, and lost some of its brightness, especially on the spine where it has darkened. Moisture stains, soiling, shelf / reading wear. Minor wear to extremities. Binding is cocked but remains strong. Old moisture stain faintly visible in the margins at bottom fore corner to p. 44 as well as the last dozen or so pages in the book as well as the free end papers, but does not affect readability.
