Red cloth covers clean but spine ends rubbed and small dent front outer edge. Main problem however is that front joint has become loose, internal gutter split now cosmetically sealed but the textblock shakiness remains. Nonetheless an excellent reference/working copy of this historically important text providing position statements by leading psychological theorists; notable that psychoanalysis is not included and McDougall's 'Hormic' psychology is grouped with Morton Prince under heading 'Purposive Groups' (McD.'s 2 chaps are called 'Men or Robots' (I, II) (the word robot having been coined only 5 years previously by Czech playwright Capek this was quite trendy of him.) Murchison's name does not actually appear on t.p., but he authored the Preface.

Sir William Wilson Hunter hatte das Werk ursprünglich ab 1869 geplant. Die 'New Editions' von 1908, 1909 und 1931 umfassen jeweils vier enzyklopädische Bände zur Geographie, Geschichte, Wirtschaft und Verwaltung Indiens (jeweils mit Register), 20 Bände des alphabetisch geordneten eigentlichen Ortsbuchs, das die Ortsnamen auflistet und statistische und zusammenfassende Informationen liefert, sowie je einen Band mit Index und Atlas. Unserem Exemplar liegt Band V bei, der die Orte von Abazai bis Arcot verzeichnet (Einband beschädigt). Ausgeschiedenes Bibliotheksexemplar: mehrfach gestempelt und die Rücken mit kleinem Signaturschildchen. Die Bände sind stark benutzt und haben entsprechende Gebrauchsspuren: Insbesondere sind die Karten fehlgefaltet und teils eingerissen, die Titelblätter fleckig und einige Seiten zeigen kleine Wurmgänge.
