Ouvrage consacré au manuscrit commandé Jean 1er de Berry à la fin du XIVème siècle. Par l'historien d'art belge, Georges Hulin de Loo (1862-1945). Format folio. Un des 325 exemplaires (numérotés de 1 à 325), sur papier de Hollande van Gelder Zonen, spécialement cuvé pour cet ouvrage, après 3 + 22 exemplaires sur parchemin, accompagnés de suites. Couverture rigide, demi-cuir, brun, dos à 5 nerfs, fleurons, sous emboîtement assorti. Ensemble assez lourd, catégorie colis environ 3900 g avec un bon emballage ; nous vous renseignons volontiers sur d'éventuels frais supplémentaires pour l'expédition. Etat : très bon, un peu défraîchi par l'ancienneté et le stockage. Emboîtement: moyen, frotté, rupture sur un des petits côtés (peut se consolider). 36.3 x 27.5 x 3.8 cm 3225g.

Contemporary half leather binding with richly decorated spine, original wrappers bound in, 138 pages, numerous full page plates in colour and b/w, all with their tissue guards, binding rubbed with some loss, front hinge nearly broken, inside very good condition. Limited edition of 250 copies, this one "Hors Commerce". With a handwritten dedication by the collector to Roger Fry on the original front endpaper: "A Monsieur Roger Fry hommage du collectioneur Emile Renders Bruges le 6 Juin 1927." The exhibition was a sensation at its time, the pictures were shown for the first time. Fry published a very favorable review of the exhibition ("The Authenticity of the Renders Collection", The Burlington Magazine, vol. 50, no. 290, pp. 261 - 263, 267). Renders had the most important private collection of "Flemish Primitives" of the time and famously sold 20 of them to Goering. In recent times the suspicion of Berlin State Library director Friedrich Winkler was proved, that a couple of the paintings in the collection were "restored" heavily in modern times. Books from the library of Bloomsbury member and friend of Virginia Woolf, Roger Fry are rare. Heavy book, additional shipping costs are likely. Sprache: Französisch Gewicht in Gramm: 1800.

The rare first oeuvre catalogue of Bruegel, which deals with both his graphic work and his paintings. The book is sometimes confounded with a contemporary work of Van Bastelaer which deals only with his etchings and which is much more common; and which many cheap facsimiles exist. .
