Masuccio Salernitano (14101475), born Tommaso Guardati, was an Italian poet. Born in Salerno or Sorrento, he is best known today for Il Novellino, a collection of 50 "novelle" or short stories, each prefaced by a letter of dedication to a famous person and with an epilogue containing the "moral" of the story. The Facetious Nights of Straparola (1550-1555; Italian: Le piacevoli notti), also known as The Nights of Straparola, is a two-volume collection of 75 stories by Italian author and fairy-tale collector Giovanni Francesco Straparola. Complete in four volumes. In cloth bindings. Externally, sound, though with some bumping and slight wear to the extremities. Internally, bindings strained in places, with one plate detached. Pages are bright and quite clean, with just the odd spot and some foxing to the endpapers. Small tears to a couple of pages. Good. book.
