Sammelband mit 2 Werken des Leibarztes des Landgrafes von Hessen und Professor der Medizin an der Universität Gießen Gregor Horst (1578 - 1636). Horst war ein bedeutender Praktiker seiner Zeit und wurde von seinen Zeitgenossen als "deutscher Aeskupal" benannt. Er unternahm den Versuch, die hermetische Medizin des Paracelsus mit der klassischen hippokratischen Medizin zu vereinigen. Im Laufe seines Wirkens tritt eine Mathematisierung seiner Lehre der Physiologie und Anatomie ein, die in dieser Form erst die rationale Medizin des 18. Jahrhunderts bestimmen sollte.
