First edition of this collection of diary entries of "The Squire" and his favorite recipes for wine; from the library of Philemon Tecumseh Sherman. Octodecimo, original half calf, frontispiece tipped in, prayer cards laid in. Presentation copy, inscribed by Ellen and Noble Foster Hoggson in the year of publication on the front free endpaper, "Christmas greetings to P. Tecumseh Sherman from Ella and Noble Hoggson Dec. 25. 1919." In near fine condition with very light rubbing to the extremities. General William Tecumseh Shermanâs son P. T. Sherman was a lawyer in New York, specializing in labor and insurance, and was elected a member of the New York Board of Alderman in the late 1880s.
