Binding of red cloth spine over decorative paper covered boards in good… condition with spine a little faded, some rubbing to boards, edges & tips and a few marks. Inside the cover has detached from text block with some signs of foxing and fingermarks to pages, otherwise pages it relatively good condition (see photos). Struwwelpeter was first published in Germany in 1845 under the title "Lustige Geschichten und Drollige Bilder" written by Hoffman, a German psychiatrist and the superintendent of a "progressive" mental hospital. This book, supposedly intended to be therapeutic, was written for his three-year old son and has turned into an iconic children's book still being referenced today.
