He had previously been i private surveying practice. He had worked extensively with the MX 1502 Satellite Surveyors in Australia. This book is the result of a sabbatical taken to study satellite surveying techniques at Magnavox. Satellite Doppler positioning was a relatively new and complex surveying method and many of the implications of its use were not then well understood.
