Japanese Beauty, publicado en 1997, pertenece al periodo en el que Hiromix se convirtió en una de las figuras más reconocibles de la nueva fotografía japonesa de los años noventa. El libro recoge el universo inmediato de la fotógrafa: amigas, habitaciones, calles de Tokio, noches, viajes, moda, autorretratos y pequeños momentos cotidianos fotografiados desde una posición completamente personal. Hiromix utiliza la cámara como una prolongación de su propia vida. Sus imágenes, aparentemente espontáneas y despreocupadas, poseen una estética deliberadamente directa: encuadres imperfectos, flash frontal, colores intensos y situaciones que parecen haber sido fotografiadas justo antes de desaparecer. After leaving school in 1995, she was awarded the Nobuyoshi Araki Prize and the New Cosmos of Photography Prize, sponsored by Canon, with her book entitled School Days containing a series of colour prints captured with an automatic compact camera. The book covers a cult trend in Tokyo the trading of photographic self-portraits. It is a new way of communicating among young Japanese women. Their nickname is kubi kara camera zoku (the crowd with a camera around their neck).
