WIKIPEDIA: Harless war der älteste Sohn des Pegnitzer Dekans Ernst Harleß[1] und dessen erster Ehefrau Luise, geb. Bischoff sowie ein Ururenkel des Humanisten Gottlieb Christoph Harleß[2]. Als Schüler von Hermann Lietz, dem Gründer der Landerziehungsheime, arbeitete Hermann Harless bis 1920 an der von Paul Geheeb gegründeten Odenwaldschule und übernahm später die Leitung der Neuen deutschen Schule Hellerau, wo er u. a. mit Alexander Sutherland Neill, dem späteren Gründer der Demokratischen Schule Summerhill, zusammenarbeitete, mit dem er aber offenbar nicht in allen pädagogischen Fragen übereinstimmte. Als engagierter Reformpädagoge vertrat er seine Ideen in den 1920er Jahren auch im Bund Entschiedener Schulreformer. Am 13. Oktober 1928 gründete Harless das Landschulheim Marquartstein, zunächst mit nur sechzehn Schülerinnen und Schülern. Die Schule erfreute sich jedoch rasch großer Beliebtheit, so dass die Zahl der Schüler bis 1935 auf ca. Hundert anwuchs. 1943 wurde die Schule wegen "politischer Unzuverlässigkeit" Harless' verstaatlicht; als staatliche Schule existiert sie bis heute. Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 120.
