Internally neat, clean, bright and tight, barring very occasional foxing.

Green cloth; a pastedown illustration is on the spine and on the top end of the front board; the front board's illustration continues onto the bottom end with brown and black print on the cloth. 208 pages; 25 stories/articles; 8 color plates on dark green mat; numerous b & w illustrations and vignettes (on the page corners for each story). Illustrated endpapers have horses in brown ink. Frontal matter has browntone illustrations. The text block ends are dark green. Cover: ends of spine are softened; one corner is rubbed through to the board; front joint is faded; a third of the the back board has a stain; the illustrations have rubbed spots; shelf wear soiling. The endpapers are cracked over the hinges; the hinges have been repaired, but it is difficult to see the type of repair. Three of the color plates each have a 1/8 in. rubbed spot on an edge. Spine ends lightly rubbed with some split in the cloth at head. Edges heavily rubbed with paper worn through, corners rounded. Text block edges tanning, top and fore edge foxed. 'This book belong to' filled in on front pastedown endpaper, gift inscription on front free endpaper (dated Christmas 1923), light soiling on front endpapers, heavy tanning and heavy creasing along length of rear free endpaper. Hinges stretched. Tanning on last page mirroring fold in rear free endpaper. Moderate foxing throughout, heaviest towards very beginning and end of volume. Children's stories for boys.

Hardcover/Hardback. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. (estimated approximate date [1916]). A childrens' book in form but the content rather more grown-up. Quarto-size, unpaginated but gathered in 4s, the last signature being T, so 320 pages, more or less, plus half-tone and colourtype plates; publisher's blue paper-covered boards backed in cloth of a similar shade with a colourtype plate laid on as front cover. Good. no writing, mark-up, labels or other defacememts, clean and pleasant; no jacket. Pictures show this actual book. UK orders are post-free.

Boards worn and faded, rubbed at edges, shelf worn with a few mild marls. Front hinges cracked making the volume a little loose. Presentation inscription, from 1913, on front free endpapers. A collection of stories including The Last Fight of the Revenge, Waring and the Wilsons by Meredith Fletcher, The Assault of Badajos by Sir William Napier, and the Black Sheep - A Tale of a Tasmanian Sheep Station by Capt Charles Gilson. Very hard to find volume of adventures stories, with stunning colour plate illustrations.

Zustand: Good. 1st Edition. 1st edition. 254pp. In decorated cloth-covered boards with blue lettering front and spine (boards are strong, square and straightly; gently rubbed at corners and spine ends, soiled and faded in margins). Internally neat and clean, barring some mild toning on endpapers. A companion volume to the more common Treasury of English Verse, a selection of extracts of English prose designed to stimulate the interest of students of English literature, drawing extensively on contemporary writers.

Red cloth titled in black on spine and front board, mounted colour illstn on spine and front board, pictorial endpapers, colour frontis and plates by W.R.S. Stott. Tidy, slightly faded at spine, light foxing in edges and prelims, prize inscription on blank fly. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

One of Mrs Strang's Unbreakable Books, contains 6 boards featuring 2 illustrations bound together at spine. Illustrators include Govey, Brock, Sowerby. Sadly although the board were indeed unbreakable the top edges have suffered a liquid spillage but does not impinge on pictures. Front cover generally clean, rear has scuffing.

Printed Boards/Cloth Spine. Zustand: Very Good. Contributions from all the best boys writers of the day. A particularly interesting article on Submarines, past and present, by Lewis Spence well illustrated with photographs and diagrams. 176pp illustrated throughout together with colour plates by various artists. Contents generally clean but for minor soiling/browning, some splitting. I think the front board may have been replaced, but I can't be sure. Charming B&W illustrations throughout by Cicely Englefield. Bingo the baby polar bear visits the other residents of the zoo to tell them about his woolley coat. A scarce book from a scarce series of miniature books.

One page bears a small repair to a small tranverse tear, otherwise internal condition is very good. Hinges are weakened but good plus condition for an obviously fairly well-read boys' book of 1910.

Rear hinge is split but holding. There is a library card pocket and remains of check out slip on last blank page. Cover is scuffed, discolored, and edge worn. There is tape on the spine. 228 pages.
