Reprint, stapled. Zustand: Gut. pp. 95-116, enclosure. From the library of Prof. Wolfgang Haase, long-time editor of the ANRW and the International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT). - Enclosure: H. Spiegelberg: The Significance of Mottoes in Wittgenstein's Major Works. [Reprint from: Wittgenstein and his Impact on Contemporary Thouht, Proceedings of the 2nd International Wittgenstein Symposium, 29th August to 4th September 1977 Kirchberg (Austria)]. - A good and very clean copy. - From the text: The immediate purpose of this paper is the examination of a correspondence between two major philosophers which thus far has hard-y been noticed, largely because it was practically inaccessible. I believe that it will add to our knowledge of both Brentano and Husserl and especially of their relationship. My own interest in this exchange goes back to my initial research on the beginnings of the Phenomenological Movement, where I found letters and exchanges one of the most important tools for my historical reconstructions. The Brentano-Husserl correspondence was no exception. - Wikipedia: Herbert Spiegelberg (geboren 18. Mai 1904 in Straßburg, Deutsches Reich; gestorben 6. - Binding bumped, light margins, small marginal tears, otherwise clean. - From the text: The Portrait and Brentano's Early Perspective on Husserl. We owe to Philip Merlan some intriguing information about Franz Brentano's relations with Sigmund Freud. So I venture to hope that he might also have been interested in an iconographic item about the personal relations between Franz Brentano and Edmund Husserl which until recently was believed to be totally lost. Its partial reconstruction may at the same time throw new light on their early philosophical connections. - Wikipedia: Herbert Spiegelberg (May 18, 1904 - September 6, 1990) was an American philosopher who played a prominent role in the advancement of phenomenogical philosophy in the United States.
