First ed. thus (editor has condensed the 9 volumes of the author's History of the United States during the Administrations of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison); despite absence of slip case these two volumes are in very good condition , with tight bindings, clean, unmarked pages--no smudges or water marks; shelfwear is minimal, and consists of slight rubbing at crowns and feet of spines, small scratch on front board of Vol. I; paper is mildly age-toned, more so on edges of end pages and paste downs, but of fine quality and strong; includes maps.
