Printed on card stock and intended for use by campaign representatives and canvassers. Such pieces were distributed directly to freeholders during electioneering activities and survive far less frequently than speeches, addresses and election broadsides. A rare example of practical Georgian political ephemera documenting the organisation of Liddell's parliamentary campaign. I have not located a separately catalogued institutional record for this specific committee card. Material of this type is rarely recorded individually and appears not to be properly catalogued as a distinct publication. Very good condition. Minor age spotting. Printed on card. 9 x 6 cm.

In this post-election address, Liddell thanks his supporters and explains that he has withdrawn his candidature owing to a "Deficiency of Means" to continue the contest, providing a rare contemporary insight into the enormous costs of county elections before the Reform Act. Printed at Newcastle by T. & J. Hodgson and dated Farnacres, 11 March 1826. An important primary source for the study of Georgian electoral politics and Northumberland political history. Issued during the celebrated Northumberland election of 1826, one of the most fiercely contested county elections of the Georgian period, involving Henry Thomas Liddell, Matthew Bell, Thomas Wentworth Beaumont and Lord Howick.
