Soft cover. Zustand: Good. 1st Edition. Large portfolio in stiff tan pictorial wrappers containing 24 loose prints on various papers. Four page introductory text also included. This copy inscribed by the artist to his relative, Wesley Thompson, and signed with his initials "H.S". A group of female nudes by the Kentucky-born landscape and figure painter. Henry Strater (1896-1987) studied in Paris in the 1920's where he befriended Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. He maintained a studio in Ogunquit Maine for over fifty years and founded the Ogunquit Museum of American Art in 1952. The prints in this portfolio date from 1949 to 1951 and are printed on white and tan paper. Four of the prints are printed on wood paper. The portfolio has some soiling and wear with a one inch tear at the top. The prints are in very good condition with no chips or tears although there is some foxing to the ones on white paper. The others are quite clean. The booklet has some browning to the cover title page. See our other listing under the artist's name. Foreign postage extra on this large item. Inscribed by Author(s).
