Black and white frontispiece and 18 text illustrations + two plates, 511pp. 19 x 13.2cm. A little light foxing, text generally clean and sound. Original grey cloth covered boards, a little discoloured, cloth rubbed at extremities, spine dull and a little worn, and faint prior owner name dated November 24/ '86, resewn with the original and new endpapers. An attractive pictorial cover. Interesting commentary on the then little known areas (to Europeans) in Southern China and the island of Hainan.
