Vorliegende Ausgabe von mir bibliographisch nicht nachweisbar. Im Katalog der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek ist eine Ausgabe Berlin, A. Weichert von 1928 verzeichnet, ebenfalls als Band 9 der Reihe "Weichert-Bücher". Die Erstausgabe erschien wohl um 1900 bei Eckstein in Berlin. Der bayerische Autor (1835-1905) war Bibliothekar und schrieb als Schriftsteller Erzählungen, Dramen, Biographien und Essays zur neueren Geschichte. Er hatte enge Beziehungen zu Hans v. Bülow und dessen Gattin Cosima, die später die Frau Richard Wagners wurde. Nach 1875 lebte Heigel wechselweise in München, Italien und Tirol und arbeitete neben seiner schriftstellerischen Tätigkeit fast ausschließlich für König Ludwig II., für dessen private Theateraufführungen er einige Dramen verfasste und der ihn in den Adelsstand erhob. Er gehörte zum Münchner Dichterkreis "Die Krokodile" zu dem u.a. auch Emanuel Geibel und Felix Dahn zählten. Einige seiner Werke mit lokalgeschichtlichen Bezügen zu Bayern gelten heute als Quellen bei der Untersuchung landschaftsgebundener, volkstümlicher Literatur. Mit der hübschen Einbandzeichnung des Berliner Illustrators und Werbegraphikers Philipp Zehbe. Besonders weitverbreitet und bekannt wurde sein Entwurf für ein Emailplakat für Trumpf-Schokolade.
