Pine Beach Borough is a small enclave just east of Toms River in Ocean County, New Jersey, on the south shore of Toms River itself. The area was first settled in the early half of the 18th century and charcoling was an early industry conducted there. In the later 19th century, the area was accessible via the Philadelphia and Long Branch Railroad with a branch line from Toms River via a manually operated trestle to Island Heights Junction which in 1909 became Pine Beach.
