Hardcover. Zustand: Good. 29 cm, xi, [1], 387, [1] pages. Endpaper map. Glossary. Sources. Index. Maps. Ink notation inside front board. Part of DJ taped to front and back flyleaves. Boards somewhat scuffed and soiled, especially at the bottom fore-edge area. Trevor Nevitt Dupuy (1916 - 1995) was a colonel, United States Army, retired and noted military historian. During World War II he commanded a U.S. Army artillery battalion, and a Chinese artillery group. Harvard University appointed him as a Professor of Military Science and Tactics, where he helped found the Harvard Defense Studies Program. From 1960 to 1962 Dupuy worked for the Institute for Defense Analyses, a government-funded think tank. In 1962 he formed the first of his research companies dedicated to the study and analysis of armed conflict, the Historical Evaluation and Research Organization (HERO), and served as President and Executive Director until 1983. From 1967 to 1983 he was also President of T. N. Dupuy Associates Inc. (TNDA), which became the parent organization for HERO. Dupuy's main contribution to military operation analysis is the assessment method Quantified Judgment Method or QJM, where the outcome of a battle is predicted using a fairly complicated multiplicative-additive formula in which various factors relating to the strength and firepower of the fighting parties as well as the circumstances are taken into account. The Almanac of World Military Power is a review of the nations' armies, fleets and air force. For each country, a national overview gives a comprehensive geography, population, economy, governance and policy, including defense and security policy; A brief mention of the country's total military force, as well as the defense budget; The organization, structure and size of the military units; Overview of used equipment (weapons, vehicles, equipment, etc.). The work is extremely useful for assessing the military capabilities of each country. Third Edition [stated]. Presumed first printing thus.

Zustand: Sehr gut. Hayes Edd, Dawn E (illustrator). Zustand: Sehr gut | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Serendipity happens when people, places, time and events intersect and something inexplicably good emerges. Serendipity intrigues, as it brings good fortune. Those who embrace it are often considered idealistic and wishful, or even wacky. In We Built the Bridge, author Grace Fala makes serendipity real.Magical stories often stay within the parameters of acceptable norms. They generally involve children and parents-typically, individuals who identify and relate as man and woman. But this fairytale doesn't follow the mainstream. This serendipitous story graced two unlikely singletons-two whimsical and, according to customs, maverick women. While searching for an affordable home in a suburban area, something unbelievable threw them off course. A strange energy gripped and carried them toward a house charmed with magnetic forces, as if calling their names. Fala reflects on how two women from Philadelphia who love one another now make their home in a farming valley among the Amish.Praise for We Built the BridgeA delightful, passionate, playful, and significant story, not just for those who live in or visit Pennsylvania's Amish country, but for us all. -Virginia Ramey Mollenkott, PhD, Author, Omnigender, Sensuous Spirituality, and other books.

Fotografie
Original vintage reference photograph from the 1957 film, showing actor Arthur Kennedy. Based on the 1956 novel by Grace Metalious. Gossip is pervasive in a small New England town, leading everyone to do what they can to hide their secrets and scandals until they boil over. The film tied with "The Little Foxes" (1941) for the most Academy Award nominations-but no wins. Set in the fictional New England town of Peyton Place, shot on location in Maine, New Hampshire, and New York. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, with splash at top left corner.

Fotografie Erstausgabe
Set of 3 vintage snapshot-size keybook publicity photographs for both the 1957 and 1958 films, with punch holes at the left (or top) margin as called for. Each photograph shows a different take of actors Diane Varsi and Christine Carére sitting side-by-side in matching chairs, each reading (and showing each other) a first edition of "Peyton Place" and a first edition of Françoise Sagan's "A Certain Smile." Both films were produced and released by Twentieth Century-Fox. To our knowledge, snapshot-size reference photographs were utilized only by Twentieth Century-Fox, during a period roughly between 1940-1965, and are very scarce, particularly in the keybook format.
