Bound in the publisher's light green cloth with titles in black on the spine and white on the top board, decorations in black and green and laid-on colour illustration on the top board, marbled endpapers. Very good condition, with a slightly sunned spine, and some light marks to the boards. Owner bookplate on the ffep, a little foxing to the half title and title pages, and the very last page, a very few light marks elsewhere, mainly clean and bright and tight in its binding, plates all present and in very good condition. W.E. Cule wrote a number of children's books, and this is probably one of his best, the story of a little boy who runs away from home, very sympathetically told. The artist, Brian Hatton (1887-1916) from Herefordshire was a portrait and landscape artist as well as book illustrator, his considerable promise cut short when he was killed in action in 1916. This book is illustrated with four colour plates by him. 22cm, 8.75 inches, tall, vii, 184 pages, plus 16pp publisher's advertisements.
