The need to come up with the new energy saving as well as environmental friendly air conditioning systems has been more urgent than ever before. In hot and humid areas, the liquid desiccant air-conditioning systems based on evaporative cooling was proposed as a promising invention.This system overcomes the difficulty of evaporative cooler increased humidity with cooling, which makes it unsuitable for hot and humid climates, by dehumidifying the air first and then cooling it inside an evaporative cooler with water. The heating effect of dehumidification process is compensated by cooling water circulation. The use of dehumidifier in conjunction with an evaporative cooler increases the efficiency of the system. Some of the advantages of using this system are: it can remove the air latent load, environmental friendly, removes the pollutants from the process air and reduces the amount of the electrical energy consumed.The primary objective of this project is to design a solar based liquid desiccant evaporative system to purify and supply cool air. Liquid desiccant dehumidification has been proven to be an effective method to extract the moisture of air with relatively less energy consumption, especially compared with conventional vapor compression system. Inside the dehumidifier we used calcium chloride solution which after some period of time gets diluted with water and loses its moisture absorbing capacity and therefore, needs to be heated in the solar collector to ensure that the liquid desiccant does not lose its absorption capacity.In this project, several different aspects in solar assisted liquid desiccant based evaporative cooler have been considered. Some of these aspects include the availability of the materials, manufacturability of the product, sustainability of the product, health and safety regulations and the environmental effects of the product.…

The Ibn Majid Society was founded in RAK to preserve Emirati folk arts and maritime heritage. Credited here are its General Supervisor Nasser Hassan Al Kass, Heritage Committee Members Ahmed Hassan Al Kharkhour and Ahmed Mohammed Saeed, and photographer Ahmed Fadlallah Azzam. IDEX 95 was the 2nd UAE International Defence Exhibition hosted in Abu Dhabi, which took place in March 1995. With representatives from over 40 countries attending, the IDEX 95 Committee initiated this work to raise their awareness of Emirati culture and history. The Committee members named are Brigadier General Sultan Bakhiet Al Swaidi, and Lieutenant Colonel Ali Salem Al Kaabia. Both opening statements are by military figures including Chief of Staff HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Head of the Military Committee Organising International Shows (CODEX) Brigadier General Obaid Bakhiet Al Swaidi. There are no further statements or essays, and the rest features captioned photos organised into Diving and Fishing Items (pp17-52), House / Clay Instruments (pp53-102), Traditional Games (pp103-110), Agricultural Instruments (pp111-122), and Fishing with Al-A'ameleh (pp123-125). Undated c1950s to 1960s, with references to sea, overland and air travel. Tawafa (named from Tawaf or circumambulation around the Kaaba) also known as Muallim or teachers, have traditionally been officially licensed to guide pilgrims through the rituals of Hajj and Umrah, and assist with practicalities such as transport, accommodation, food, water etc. Of the set included here, 7 were based in Mecca (some naming their colleagues in Medina), and 1 in Medina. Two specialised in assisting Turkish pilgrims. They had agents elsewhere, including Jeddah, Egypt and Iraq. Their addresses can sometimes appear vague, located in proximity to the Masjid al Haram for example, sometimes locatable by asking around verbally by name. Among the captions: In Mecca, near the Holy Mosque, ready to serve anyone who asks about him in Jeddah, by sea or air. Beware of brokers.
