Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good. 1st Edition. Very good condition. Minor wear to book corners and edges. Light foxing to top foredge. Dust jacket has small tears to the top edge and is now enclosed in a glossy protective cover.Interior and binding are still excellent.Throughout Western Australia's 150 years of settlement, many fine buildings and humble structures have been erected, each typical of the period in which it was constructed. Many of these buildings are still standing, and the National Trust has acquired many splendid examples, spread throughout the state, to preserve for the enjoyment of present and future generations. Many historic buildings are described in Alexandra Hasluck's detailed and informative text and are illustrated by Ross Shardlow's charmingly evocative drawings, including the Old Farm at Strawberry Hill, St Bartholomew's Church, Wonnerup House, Sealer's Oven, Warden Finnerty's House and many buildings in Greenough. This book is a valuable portrayal of the heritage left to us by the pioneers in Western Australia.

Soft cover. 2nd Edition. Good condition. Wear to book corners and edges. Some creasing to first page. Faint marks on foredges. Body text and binding are still very good. This book was inspired by the discovery of a tattered bundle of letters. The letters were written by Myra Sykes to her husband William who had been transported to the Swan River Colony. In the 1850s, the Swan River Colony settlers were desperate for labour and were petitioning the British government to send convicts. Alexandra Hasluck uses William Sykes as an example of the "prototype" convict.
