Voor het economische recht, het bestuursrecht en voor bepaalde delen van het privaatrecht, zoals het intellectuele eigendomsrecht, het vennootschapsrecht en het arbeidsrecht, is reeds lang bekend dat deze invloed significant is. Sinds de jaren negentig van de twintigste eeuw wordt steeds duidelijker dat het Europese gemeenschapsrecht ook binnen het algemene vermogensrecht een belangrijke rol speelt en dat zijn invloed in de toekomst nog aanzienlijk zal toenemen. Deze bundel over de verhouding tussen Europees recht en nationaal privaatrecht beoogt de praktijkjurist inzicht te geven in de invloed van het Europese recht op het Nederlandse burgerlijk recht.
