He opened a shop in the Strand, where he published a quantity of works on English literature and antiquities, many edited by himself. His chief literary undertaking was an excellent collection of old ballads, of which a third edition was revised and published by his son, R. H. Evans. With Mervyn Marshall heraldic bookplate (Charles Hall Crouch collection of heraldic bookplates at the Society of Antiquaries of London.) And the modern bookplate of George Clinton Fairchild Williams (1857 ? 1933) an American medical doctor, genealogist, and historian who served as president of the Connecticut Historical Society from 1919 to 1922 and 1926 to 1934. Quarto, bound in full red morocco by Riviere & Son with gilt titles and ruling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, gilt presidential seal to the front panel with white and blue morocco onlays, gilt arms and motto of George Washington to the rear panel with white and blue morocco onlays and his gilt signature in facsimile, centerpieces within quintuple gilt ruling with star emblems at each corner, blue morocco doublures with multiple gilt presidential signatures, blue silk endpapers. This complete series of autographs of the first 34 Presidents of the United States contains the signature of each mounted on an album leaf opposite a loosely tissue-guarded engraved portrait of each.
