The Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD) has been investigated based on various findings in South Manchuria, Korea, Indo-China, Inner Asia and Mongolia presenting a vast knowledge of its culture. "In this connection a great importance is attached to the sites in Lo-lang province (Rakuro-gun), an ancient Chinese colony in Korea, which had formed a great cultural center of the Han-period in the Far-East. Because of the long existence of the colony, the sites in Lo-Lang contain objects which may be favorably compared with those found in China proper. Moreover, the abundance of the artifacts in those tombs, judging from those already excavated, mark them as a most valuable buried document concerning Han culture and as such they are bound to make a contribution of utmost importance to the archaeological world." (Author). The work describes the Lo-lang sites, the tomb of Wang Hsu, the excavation, the construction of the tomb, the condition in which the objects were found and their distribution, and includes notes on the objects found as well as a conclusive description of the findings. Illustrated with extraordinary lithographic reproductions of the findings color and b/w as well as drawings and two colored maps on a total of 128 plates (including 10 fold-outs) and two tables, plus and additional 40 figures interspersed throughout the Japanese text section (some tipped in).
