Billings, a medical officer of the US Army, and curator of the Army Medical Museum from 1883 to 1893 and extended through donations and acquisitions in the years since. It is very helpful for dating unknown microscopes by form, useful for collectors, dealers, and historians. This second edition contains an additional 32 pages of microscopes added to the collection since 1967.
