American silent film actress remembered as the classic flapper or siren type of the 1920s, debuting in 1920 in "A Modern Salome"; later married producer Jules Brulatour and tried her hand singing opera; as a New York socialite, she was known as "The Duchess of Park Lane." Large and bold "Most Cordially / Hope Hampton" in black fountain pen on a pristine pink 6" X 3 3/4" autograph album leaf, n.p., n.y. Near fine. No place or year indicated, but from the collection of noted collector Preston Sawyer (1899-1968), California journalist and historical writer, who obtained this in San Francisco around 1930. Accompanied by a modern (1978) book photograph, a glossy 8" X 10" black and white reproduction of Nickolas Muray's 1930s portrait of Hampton, a striking head-and-shoulders study of Hampton in low-cut fur coat and jeweled tiara.
