Letterpress title-page, 24 tinted lithographs by A. Ducôte after W. C., and 24 leaves of letterpress commentary. In four sets of six prints each within the four original lithographed wrappers. Stored in modern, custom-made olive drab board portfolio. Portraits, histories, and pedigrees of twenty-four brood mares belonging to the Royal Stud at Hampton Court: the four serial parts in their original lithographed wrappers, as issued, comprising Belvoirina, Maria, Burden, Fleur-de-Lis, Rachel, and Jewess; Nanine, Elizabeth, Galatea, Sultana, Young Espagnole, and The Arabian Mare; Gulnare, Marpessa, Wings, Miss Craven, Xarifa, and Delphine; Miss Clifton, Spermaceti, Miss O'Neil, Arabian Mare, Shortwaist, and La Danseuse. Many of these thoroughbreds are fifth- or sixth generation descendants of the Godolphin Arabian, others are Arabians recently gifted by Middle Eastern rulers. - Located within the grounds of Hampton Court Palace in East Mosely beside the River Thames, The Stud House was built in the early 18th century. The Royal Stud had been at Hampton Court since the reign of William III. - Edge tears, chipped corners and other small paper flaws to plates and wrappers professionally repaired. - Podeschi, Horse and Horsemanship, 155.
