First edition thus. Duodecimo, pp., xviii, 389, [3] blank, plus frontispiece. With 64 line drawings by Hammond within text, 11 of which are full page plates included in the pagination; headpieces to chapters, list of illustrations, and introduction; title-page wholly drawn. Publisher's smooth dark blue-green cloth; elaborate floral gilding and lettering to spine and upper board; top edge gilt. Small, neat ownership inscription of one Dorothy Percival in ink to front free end-paper. Minor restoration to lower joint, head and tail spine, expertly executed and barely perceptible.
