Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - DramaHamilton Deane and John L. Balderston, from Bram Stoker's novelCharacters: 6 male, 2 female3 Interior ScenesAn enormously successful revival of this classic opened on Broadway in 1977 fifty years after the original production. This is one of the great mystery thrillers and is generally considered among the best of its kind. Lucy Seward, whose father is the doctor in charge of an English sanitorium, has been attacked by some mysterious illness. Dr. Van Helsing, a specialist, believes that the girl is the victim of a vampire, a sort of ghost that goes about at night sucking blood from its victims. The vampire is at last found to be a certain Count Dracula, whose ghost is at last laid to rest in a striking and novel manner. The play is intended for all who love thrills in the theater. 'Pure escape and great fun.' N.Y. Post 'An evening of high class fun.' Newsweek.

Manuskript / Papierantiquität Erstausgabe
Zustand: Very Good. New York: Playbill Magazine / American Theater Press, 1977. First Edition. Staple-bound booklet (23cm); 88 unnumbered pages. Publisher's Gorey-illustrated wrappers with yellow Playbill header at front panel and color advertisement at rear. Black and white and color photographs and illustrations throughout. Wraps bumped and toned with tears forming near spine; rear panel foxed with brief tape repair at bottom edge. Binding sound. Textblock, endsheets, and interior pages show some toning; otherwise clean. Very Good. The Broadway revival of Dracula premiered at the Martin Beck Theater (now the Al Hirschfeld Theatre) in 1977. It featured set and costumes designed by author and illustrator Edward Gorey. Upon the show's debut, a New York Times theater critic wrote that Gorey "dominates the production," far outshining the acting. Later that year, Gorey was nominated for Tony Awards for Best Costume Design and Best Scenic Design, the former of which he won. Along with photographs of the production, this playbill includes thumbnails of Gorey's costume illustrations. Find inside also quintessentially 70s advertisements for cigarettes, airlines, alcohol, and women's fashion.
