[52] pp.; 21 x 24 cm.; sewn bound; black-and-white; edition size unkown; unsigned and unnumbered; offset-printed Two volume exhibition catalogue published in conjunction with two-part show held March 14 ? May 18, 2014 and May 25 ? August 3. "Other Primary Structures revisited the premise of and built upon the Museum''s seminal 1…966 exhibition Primary Structures: Younger American and British Sculptors, the first American museum exhibition to survey the style now known as Minimalism. Primary Structures introduced the public to such artists as Carl Andre, Dan Flavin, Donald Judd, Sol LeWitt, Walter De Maria, Robert Morris, and others--figures unknown at the time but soon to become synonymous with a radically new approach to sculpture. Nearly 50 years later, Other Primary Structures revisits this formative moment in art history while also reexamining the period from today''s far more global perspective. "Presented in two parts, the first part of the exhibition titled Others 1, examined work created between 1960 and 1967, while Others 2, on view from May 25 ? August 3, presented work created between 1967 and 1970, some of which was directly influenced by the 1966 Primary Structures exhibition at the Jewish Museum." -- publisher''s statement. This publication includes a faithful reprint of the original 1966 catalogue published in conjunction with show held April 27 - June 12, 1966. Essay by exhibition''s curator Kynaston McShine. Includes works by Carl Andre, David Annesley, Richard Artschwager, Larry Bell, Ronald Bladen, Michael Bolus, Anthony Caro, Tony DeLap, Walter de Maria, Tom Doyle, Dan Flavin, Peter Forakis, Paul Frazier, Judy Gerowitz, Daniel Gorski, David Gray, Robert Grosvenor, David Hall, Douglas Huebler, Donald Judd, Ellsworth Kelly, Phillip King, Lyman Kipp, Gerald Laing, Sol LeWitt, John McCracken, Tina Matkovic, Robert Morris, Forrest Myers, Peter Phillips, Peter Pinchbeck, Salvatore Romano, Tim Scott, Anthony Smith, Robert Smithson, Michael Todd, Anne Truitt, William Tucker, Richard Van Buren, David von Schlegell, Isaac Witkin and Derrick Woodham. Until 1914 the sisters visited the property every autumn, entertaining friends and many royal relatives in an informal atmosphere. It was indeed a royal retreat. The first world war put an end to those happy times but in 1919, no exiled from Russia, the Dowager Empress made the vila her home and Hvidore became a court in exile. In 1920 she was joined by her younger daughter Olga and her family, who all lived at Hvidore, not always happily, until the Empress's death in 1928. A Royal Retreat tells the story of the purchase, renovation, the many royal visitors and finally the sale of this forgotten royal home. Suppressed and rare: with the famous illustration of the prisoners Sudds and Thompson in chains and spiked iron collars, bound in the original pink paper printed wrappers as issued, which, despite numerous institutional holdings, are UNRECORDED. Fergu…son 1660 : 'This rare pamphlet, full of serious charges against Lieut.-General Darling, mostly taken from the columns of the Sydney Monitor, caused Captain Robison, its real author (in this form) and publisher, to be put on trial for criminal libel upon an indictment presented by General Darling. He was convicted on December 11, 1834, and sentenced to four months' imprisonment. [The printer] swore that the circulation was stopped by the defendant, who gave up the whole of the remaining copies after prosecution threatened. This withdrawal has greatly increased the rarity of this item'. 8vo, xvi, 92pp. Bound in the original pink paper wrappers.
