London & New York: J. M. Dent & Co. and E. P. Dutton & Co., 1907, 1st edition. Contains 50 color plates and other illustrations in b/w. Original decorative light blue cloth binding with intricate gilt, brown and green designs on front and spine, gilt top edge, and untrimmed side and bottom edges. 322 pages. Overall condition is Very Good. The exterior boards are moderately age-toned and grazed (see pictures). The page edges and endpapers are age toned as well, but the interior text and plates are pretty bright. There is occasional scattered foxing to edge of some pages. Inside front is a penciled in dealer's mark, else pages are clean and unmarked. Binding is secure and strong. A nice, solid copy!

The firm exhibited at the 1929 British Industries Fair in Birmingham. Some soiling and scuffs, mainly to the front board. Title label chipped along right edge. Slightly sprung. Inside, a previous owner has pasted in pictures and newspaper cuttings relating to Venice with dates from 1922-1929. These are on the first 5 blank endpapers and blank verso of the title page. A small cutting has been removed from the title page leaving small residue and ink date & 'Morning Post' (newspaper) reference.Also to: verso of title page,at end of preface, blank facing contents page, to blank of p.7 with ink smudge, p.123, rear blank endpapers and to patterned endpapers.
