Vellum. Zustand: Good. 1st Edition. Similar to the A & C Black style of books. Large 8vo. With fifty colour plates and numerous others in b& w. The book has been rebound in vellum with Ferguson crest and motto & gilt decoration to the spine and boards. Leather title label. on spine. Teg. Bound by Simson & Co, Hertford. The firm exhibited at the 1929 British Industries Fair in Birmingham. Some soiling and scuffs, mainly to the front board. Title label chipped along right edge. Slightly sprung. Inside, a previous owner has pasted in pictures and newspaper cuttings relating to Venice with dates from 1922-1929. These are on the first 5 blank endpapers and blank verso of the title page. A small cutting has been removed from the title page leaving small residue and ink date & 'Morning Post' (newspaper) reference.Also to: verso of title page,at end of preface, blank facing contents page, to blank of p.7 with ink smudge, p.123, rear blank endpapers and to patterned endpapers.
