Little did I realise the many difficulties we should encounter before publication, but I hope you will agree that your patience is now rewarded. Whilst originally the intention was to restrict the scope of this book to events which affected No. 17 Group, it soon became apparent that this limitation was both impractical, and, upon consideration, undesirable. My experience as Commandant of the Group led me to the belief that the Corps, in working so closely with the R.A.F and the American Air Forces, performed its duties efficiently but with the minimum amount of publicity, and when this question of limitation was raised I agreed that in compiling this n.
