Notenheft. ------- Adalbert Gyrowetz, tschechisch Vojtech Matyás Jírovec (* 19. Februar 1763 in Budweis, Böhmen; gest. 19. März 1850 in Wien) war ein böhmisch-österreichischer Komponist. Adalbert Gyrowetz erhielt früh Unterricht in Gesang und Violine und während seiner Gymnasialzeit in Orgel und Generalbass. Nach seinen Studien in Prag trat er in Brünn in die Dienste des Grafen Johann Franz von Fünfkirchen. Anschließend besuchte er zahlreiche damalige Musikzentren Europas. In London traf er 1791/92 auf Joseph Haydn, dessen Stil und Harmonik seine dort komponierte Kammermusik und seine Sinfonien beeinflusste. Einige seiner Werke wurden sogar irrtümlich Haydn zugeschrieben. 1793 kam er nach Wien, wo er von 1804 bis 1831 Hoftheater-Kapellmeister war.…

Following each variation the scribe indicates "tutti" or "to the tutti," indicating that these variations may have been performed with an ensemble of musicians. Unlocated. 2) Bishop, Sir Henry Rowley 1786-1855 and [?]Anon Variations from Home Sweet Home. 2 pp. Five variations on Rowley's well-known song. Bishop was an English composer who, "in his day he enjoyed a commanding reputation as the guardian of the best traditions of English song, and for a time he kept English opera alive almost single-handed. Yet he is now remembered for little but the song Home, Sweet Home." "His father, a choirmaster, taught him singing and the violin and he later studied the organ and thoroughbass with Haparnorsky, a church organist and composer. His earliest compositions include serenades, sacred works and string quartets. . A promising young composer, Gyrowetz left the region and travelled to the principal music centres of Europe: Vienna, Italy, Paris, London, and then back to Vienna. During his first visit to Vienna, in either late 1785 or 1786, he made the acquaintance of Haydn, Dittersdorf, Albrechtsberger and Mozart; he developed a warm relationship with Mozart, who performed one of his symphonies at a subscription concert. In the service of Prince Ruspoli he travelled to Italy, where he met Nardini in Florence and Goethe in Rome.
