ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 1987). (1945) 1987 Bracken Books edition. 8vo (164 x 227mm). Pp48. Colour paintings and b/w engravings. Pictorial laminated boards, issued without a dust-wrapper. Very slight browning to pages & slight use but a fine, unread copy. Guy Paget discusses British sporting art, "he makes many unorthodox judgements but supports them with first-rate illustrations and much fascinating detail and little-known information." "How few people know the work of the best of our Sporting artists, or the range they cover. The great names are familiar - Stubbs, Marshall, the Alkens - less familiar are Wootton, the Wolstenholmes, the Ferneleys, James Seymour, Sawrey Gilpin; and there are many whose work is totally unkown even to those who, in other spheres of art are both knowledgeable and appreciative. This is partly because the best sporting Artists have never been adequately represented in our public galleries, their work being still largely in private collections. Major Guy Paget is an expert and an enthusiast on the subject and his name will be familiar to reader of The Studio, Apollo, The Field, Country Life, etc, to all of which he has contributed articles on these neglected artists." .…
