Many renowned scholars have crit…icized the universal approach given to 'management' in the United States and its subsequent automatic conversion into 'international management,' but their arguments too can fall into the trap of universalism at times. This book has a more specific concern: to challenge the conversion of 'management' into 'international management' from a Latin American perspective. This challenge might be taken as a first step toward the construction of a Latin American perspective in International Management and a potential contribution to the development of this field in other parts of the world. Drawing upon such critical standpoint, several authors in the book converge upon the idea that researchers, practitioners and authorities in Latin America should challenge the US dominance in International Management and foster interdisciplinary developments within International Relations. The critical perspective provided in this book challenges the US's narrow viewpoint on management as it clearly does not fit the governance features of 'international management' in Latin America. So far, we have not observed the constitution of sub-areas such as international management of international organizations, international management of transnational institutions, international management of public-private networks, international management of public companies, and international public administration or international public management, all of which would be extremely important in Latin America.

In den Warenkorbpaperback. Minha relação com a Ortopedia é umbilical. Desde quando me entendo por gente, estou envolvido com a Ortopedia. Meu pai, Nicolas Gerardo Gómez Cordero um craque da Ortopedia! Como médico e professor desta especialidade médica, sempre me teve ao lado quando preparava as suas famosas aulas no extinto carretel de slides e… quando estudava/revisava (hábito que mantém até hoje) as cirurgias programadas para os dias seguintes. Cresci apaixonando-me pela paixão que meu pai demonstrava por esta tão bela especialidade. Este senhor é a minha grande motivação acadêmica. Quando, então, finalizado o curso de medicina, dei continuidade, o que nos parecia óbvio, aos estudos de Ortopedia na Residência Médica da Universidade de São Paulo USP. Ali encontrei grandes mestres e logo despertei, muito rapidamente, maior interesse pelas patologias dos membros superiores, tendo como grande inspiração o Prof. Dr. Américo Zoppi Filho, com quem divido os apelidos de "pai ortopédico e filho ortopédico" com os quais carinhosamente nos chamamos. A partir dessa época, dediquei-me a incontáveis congressos, cursos, jornadas e aulas Brasil e mundo afora. Aprendi e aprendo muito ao longo destes anos. Seguindo as orientações dos Mestres, fomos à "procura constante da informação e da atualização na nossa especialidade", prossegui. E hoje tenho o prazer e a honra de apresentar a obra Patologias Ortopédicas do Membro Superior, cujo intuito éproporcionar, de forma objetiva, orientação técnica para o diagnóstico e conduta de tratamento destas condições. À minha família, meu pai Nicolas Gerardo (e esposa Emma) ortopedista e autor de um capítulo desta obra junto comigo grande Mestre, a quem todo o tempo do mundo é insuficiente para poder agradecer-lhe por tudo que fez, faz e fará por mim. A meus irmãos Maria Iracema (Mami), Gerardo (Gegeu), José Pedro (Pepeu) e minha Tãe (tia e mãe) Ignez, que compartilham comigo a alegria e a honra de compor uma família abençoada, e, em especial, à minha esposa Gisele amiga e companheira para todas as horas e às minhas filhas Beatriz e Nicole, sem as quais não vivo sequer por um dia, e às quais dedico todas as minhas energias em amá-las vocês são, SEM DÚVIDA, a maior alegria da minha vida. Durante a gestão 2021 da Regional SBOT-BA, levei a proposta para a edição de um livro escrito exclusivamente por ortopedistas que atuam na Bahia ao Luis, nosso Presidente à época, que imediatamente acatou a ideia, levando ao conhecimento do restante da Diretoria, que também abraçou a causa. A tarefa não foi fácil. Organizar textos produzidos por profissionais de grande valor no âmbito das especialidades médicas e fisioterapêuticas que lidam com as patologias musculoesqueléticas que afetam os membros superiores foi um exercício prazeroso, e, ao mesmo tempo, desafiador escrever capítulos de livro não faz parte do dia a dia da maioria dos médicos e fisioterapeutas. Muito teve de ser realizado para ajustar a obra aos melhores parâmetros, mas isto foi feito sempre com boa vontade e acolhimento por parte dos colaboradores. Entre idas e vindas, prazos que exauriam, e mais uma experiência à frente: Muito conhecimento adquirido!
