In den WarenkorbCouverture rigide. Zustand: Assez bon. Edition originale. REFERENCES : Simmel ML: Phantom experiences following amputation in childhood, J Neurol Neurosurg Psychiatry. 1962,25(1):69-78: "The first systematic and fairly detailed description was given by Gueniot just a hundred years ago (Gueniot, 1861). Soon afterwards appeared Weir Mitchell's classical article, based on the observations of several hundred Civil War veterans then residing at the 'Stump Hospital' in Philadelphia (Mitchell, 1871). Mitchell coined the several terms 'phantom limb', 'ghost limb', and 'sensory ghost', which are still in use today."; Crawford C: Phantom Limb: Amputation, Embodiment, and Prosthetic Technology, p. 61: "Telescoping is a curious event that was originally introduced by Gueniot (1861) and has been described as the process of the gradual decrease in the length and or size of the phantom, such that it shrinks and withdraws toward or into the stump. Gueniot originally proposed that an amputee's phantom limb regressed to that of a child's over time (Katz 1992)"; Berrios GE: The History of Mental Symptoms, p. 49 :"In 1861 , Gueniot called the experience 'subjective heretotopia of the limbs' and a 'hallucination'."; Journet D: Phantom Limbs and "Body-Ego": S. Weir Mitchell's "George Dedlow." Mosaic: A Journal for the Interdisciplinary Study of Literature, 1990, 23(1): 87-99: "The discoveries about phantom limbs, both neurological and psychological, which Mitchell recorded in 'The Case of George Dedlow' and Injuries of Nerves and their Consequences, were truly revolutionary. Mitchell himself cites only two previous sources ' Ambrose Paré's text, Oeuvres Completes, and a 1861 article by Gueniot, 'D'une Hallucination du Toucher' (published in J. Physiol)- and claims that the 'nervous affections of stumps… [and] the physiology of stumps….may be said to have been almost entirely neglected' (Injuries 342). Marianne Simmel, in her review of literature concerning phantom limbs, also cites Gueniot's article as the only medical reference made before Mitchell's text, and Gueniot's is the only article related to phantom limbs under the entry on 'Stumps' in the First Series (1882) of the Index-Catalogue of the Library of the Surgeon General's Office. It was not until the Second Series (1911) that works on the 'physiology and hallucinations' of stumps begin to be catalogued."
