First edition. Royal octavo. pp 16 + 8-page facsimile of a handwritten school essay by Elphin Lloyd Jones who had died at the age of twelve. He was the son of Thomas Jones who was much involved in the Gregynog Press. Three wood-engravings by R.A. Maynard. Blue-grey boards. Small nameplate (Anne Furber) on front pastedown.Corners slightly bumped. Very good indeed.

One page, 4to, dulled and stained, edges chipped in places, fold marks, text clear and complete. See Image. Text: "[.] Our 'Lord Herbert of Cherbury' was issued in a limited edition of 300 copies at 4 guineas, and went out of print immediately after publication. I think however that you may still be able to obtain a copy through Mr. [J.] Kyrle Fletcher [added in Maynard's hand "of Newport Mon"] | We have a copy of Herbert's 'Life of King Henry VIII' which has not, to my knowledge, been reprinted since the 1649 edition, which you have. It is a fairly rare book, but is not unfortunately very valuable.".

Fore- and bottom edge untrimmed. With nine engraved head and tail pieces. Buckram somewhat faded at the backstrip, intruding just a little to upper and lower boards, and endpapers browned. A small circular area of residue to the front free endpaper, from a now absent sticker, alongside a neatly inked contemporary former owner name and date. A nice, crisp copy of this early Gregynog production. Jones [4].

Printed in Baskervile type on Japanese vellum in with yellow title vignette and borders on every page. 8vo., original black buckram and marbled paper covered boards, largely unopened. With some mild rubbing to cloth, otherwise very good. Simply but beautifully printed edition of the work of the Welsh poet W.H. Davies, known as the 'tramp poet'. Rather engagingly, Davies writes a foreword which declares that most of the poems were written from his own life experience: "'The Sleepers' was written after a night out on the London Embankment, when I was penniless.It will be seen from reading some of these poems that I have known the discomforts of a homeless life.however, even my experience of hunger has not left me bitter: for I believe my mind became stronger and better fed because of an occasional spell of fasting.Gluttony has starved more brains than Hunger.".

Bray adapted from contemporary prints. Full grey buckram with bevelled edges and gilt spine titling. Spines a little darkened and lacking slipcase, otherwise a very good to fine set. (Harrop 17).

Printed in Poliphilus and Blado italic on Batchelor handmade paper. Folio, original full brown buckram with Herbert arms blocked in gilt on upper cover, spine lettered in gilt, top edge gilt, others uncut. Spine and part of upper cover slightly darkened, bubbling to cloth, very clean internally. Booklabel of Clarence B. Hanson, Jr.

One of 250 copies. 11 illustrations by Dorothy Burroughes printed in colour at the head of each chapter, text printed in red and black. Sm. folio, original reddish brown cloth. Spine rubbed and a little crinkled, few small marks to covers but a pretty good copy. Fortescue's book was a very interesting choice of text. It was written for the author's 9 year old nephew and tells the story of a Red Deer on Exmoor from the aniimal's point of view. The precursor to another famous Exmoor animal book, Williamson's Tarka the Otter. Burroughes spent some time in Exmoor researching the background to her illustrations.
