Clearly new insights into the processes involved in normal and abnormal cell growth will facilitate our understanding of ev…ents relevant to cancer and cellular differentiation. Early studies on genetic fea tures associated with cancer focused on chromosomal abnormalities that were observable in several human malignancies. The more recent examination of onco genes and the proteins they encode has helped pinpoint many steps in different processes that might be involved in cancer. Immunologic studies of cancer have also developed from an imprecise series of investigations to a more detailed molecular examination of cell-surface struc tures that can be recognized immunologically. In the course of the development of modern tumor immunology, it has become clear that many of the antigens that can be recognized appear to be the products of genes involved in cell growth. Fur thermore, changes in the cell surface of malignant cells have often been found to include alteration of nonprotein constituents.

Baxter Jr., gospel music composer and publisher, was born on December 8, 1887, in Lebanon, Alabama. The "Sand Mountain native" was a prolific s…ong composer and co-founder of the Stamps-Baxter Music Company. He was known as "Pap" to his close friends. He learned the fundamentals of harmony and gospel music from T. B. Mosley and A. J. Showalter, and began teaching while he was still a student. He subsequently learned hymn writing from James Rowe, Charles H. Gabriel, and others. By 1943 he had composed more than 500 songs; by the time of his death his song lyrics numbered in the thousands. Several gospel quartets were named for him. As a publisher, he put out thousands of songs and sold hundreds of thousands of songbooks. Numerous singers and directors learned from him. In 1926 he and V. O. Stamps started the Stamps-Baxter Company, which had offices in Chattanooga, Tennessee; Jacksonville, Texas; and, later, Pangburn, Arkansas. Stamps-Baxter, which published hymnals and sponsored traveling quartets and radio programs, grew to be the world's largest gospel music business. After Stamps died in 1940 Baxter moved the business headquarters to Dallas and became president and general manager, a position he held until his death on January 21, 1960. Schriftenreihe: pharma technologie journalDas "pharma technologie journal" steht für eine wissenschaftliche Schriftenreihe, die in Form von Einzelbänden spezielle Themen aus dem pharmazeutisch-technologischen Bereich behandelt. Im besonderen geht es um eine effiziente Umsetzung von GMP-Anforderunge…n im betrieblichen Alltag. Das "pharma technologie journal" wird von einem wissenschaftlichen Beirat betreut, von Concept Heidelberg herausgegeben und erscheint mit zwei Ausgaben pro Jahr.Mit der Veröffentlichung der 5. Version des Good Automated Manufacturing Practice Supplier Guide for Validation of Automated Systems in Pharmaceutical Manufacture (GAMP® 5) im Februar 2008 wurde das Risikomanagement der ICH-Richtlinie Q9 bzw. des Annex 20 in die Praxis der Validierung computergestützter Systeme übertragen. Anders als in den Vorgängerversionen, die dem V-Modell den Vorzug gaben, liegt dem Leitfaden ein Lebenszyklusansatz zugrunde, der mit der risikobasierten Entscheidung, ob ein System validiert werden muss beginnt und mit der Stilllegung des Systems endet.Der neue Band "Computervalidierung im GxP-regulierten Umfeld" durchleuchtet das Risikomanagement in GAMP 5 und zeigt weiterführende Maßnahmen zur Reduzierung von Kosten und Zeitaufwand bei der Validierung auf. In 14 Einzelbeiträgen behandeln Fachleute aus der Industrie, dem Consulting und dem Lieferantenumfeld die Themenbereiche "Aktuelle Entwicklungen bei der Validierung computergestützter Systeme", "Lieferantenbeteiligung", "Betrieb und Aufrechterhaltung des validierten Zustands".
