Elizabeth Caroline Hamilton Gray (18001887) Scottish historian and travel author, born in Alva, Clackmannanshire. Gray first interested in the history of the Etruscans after a visit to an exhibition of their artefacts in London in 1837 organised by Domenico Campanari. She pursued the subject on a visit to Italy in 18371839, drawing on contacts in German and Italian archaeological circles. She published the above work which served both as a travelogue and an account of her archaeological research. US$442.
