Hardcover. Zustand: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Square 8vo hardcover volume illustrated paper covers with a cutout on front cover. Bend in corner of dog house but holding ok. Cloth spine is good. A little light soiling. This has 42 pages + 2 color plates. The 42 illustrated pages are in black and white and some very young person has used watercolors and colored pencils to add color to a number of the illustrations. Their effort was fairly sloppy. Front inside joint is open with inner page with puppy somewhat lose. All pages are complete and intact. A very rare childrens book we could find no other copies.

Scarce set of 12 miniature books about the magical adventures of humanized bear cubs, complete in original box. Grace Drayton was one of the first women cartoonists, and found great success with her comic strips and advertising art; she was also a founder of the Plastic Club, a Philadelphia art group organized and run by women. She is best known for her chubby-faced children characters, an aesthetic which can be seen in the BABY BEARS. Titles included are: 1. Baby Bears & the Wishing Rings; 2. Baby Bears & the Honey Pot; 3. Baby Bears Visit To Grandma; 4. Baby Bears & the Snow Man; 5. Baby Bears & the Valentines; 6. Baby Bears & Mad March Hare; 7. Baby Bears & April Showers; 8. Baby Bears & Christmas; 9. Baby Bears & the Robbers; 10. Baby Bears & Elly El; 11. Baby Bears & Weather Cock; 12. Baby Bears & Mrs. Kitty. 2.25'' x 3.25'' (box); 2.5'' x 2'' (books). Unbound. Zustand: Very Good. Original art. One narrow folio sheet of Sargent superfine drawing paper laid down onto another sheet. Measuring approximately 23" x 11". Modest tanning and soil, a bit of edgewear, and several pairs of tiny holes punched in the paper, mostly confined to the outer margin line, very good and sound. Date stamped October 16, 1932 in the margins, and with a King Features Syndicate, Inc., copyright pasted in the lower left. A charming collection of images, published as a "topper strip" for her 1928-1933 comic strip "Dolly Dimples and Bobby Bounce." (A "topper strip" is a smaller, second strip given to leading cartoonists on Sundays so that their work occupied an entire page.) The strip features a portrait of Marie Antoinette "by Vigee le Bruin" (Little Great Masters); three "Scrapbook Pictures" (The Mono, The Bird's Nest, and A Good Catch); two pieces of "Lucky Bucks Play Money" (Lucky Kitty and Lucky Comfy), a title panel ("Kittens") and "The Skipping Rope Comic Stamp." Drayton was an early and successful female illustrator, probably best known as the creator of the Campbell Soup Kids.
