Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Revised Expanded Edition. Hand colored lithographs; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 1854 Peter P. Good, (Self-Published). HC Vol I only of the revised and exapanded edition which doubled the number of color plates of the earlier 1945 edition. Text and plates complete with 48 tissue guarded, hand colored lithographs of botanical specimens. Front board detached; spine cloth missing in entirety. Plate # 11 damaged with two small oval pieces cut from the plate. Most tissue guards served as a practice template for a young hand to practice tracing with outlines of the flowers in pencil - somethimes shaded in by pencil. To be clear these pencil doodles are on the tissue guards and not the plates. Paged with lv pp of introduction and glossary followed by 48 sections of 4 printed pages, a blank sheet and a handcolored plate - detailing 48 botanical specimens. [10] pp of ads at rear include an engraved portrait of the author, again with a pencil defaces tissue guard. Here and there some light spotting and soiling; a few instances of shallow crescent shaped damp lines to the edge of a slim section of pages. Externally rough but textually complete. A candidate for rebacking and restoration. Good only thus.
